A Month of Gratitude, 1-5

You may have seen your friends posting on Facebook about a Month of Gratitude and each day posting one thing they are grateful for.  While this is something I try and do all the time, I love the idea of highlighting it for the month of November.

Since we’re five days in, I have some catching up to do.  Let’s get to it!

#1:  My parents.

The most obvious gets the first spot, of course.  Things haven’t always been perfect, but they taught me to be genuine, work hard and things will work out — perhaps not as expected, but as they should.

#2:  OatFit oatmeal.

Some of these are going to be ridiculous (yet true).  I start every single day with a bowl full of this goodness!

#3:  Being fat.

What the…?  I was miserable when I was fat, yes.  But I think I was supposed to go through that struggle.  I learned so much about myself throughout the process of getting healthy again and know it will help me stay on a path of living clean.

#4:  On a Clear Night by Missy Higgins  (and my friend who introduced me to her music)

This record was my first Missy album.  It changed me in so many ways and led me down a path of re-discovering my creative inspiration.  I’m not quite sure what that means yet, but I’m so, so grateful for that cold December night at the Varsity.

#5:  The moment after finishing a great workout.

I dare to say there’s no better feeling.  Ok, maybe love… but a great work out has to be right up there.  Knowing how hard it is to drag yourself to the gym or trails or wherever… and then kicking ass anyway?  That’s most certainly one thing to be thankful for.

For the rest of this month, I’ll be posting one thing a day.  Think about what YOU are grateful for.  Big things, little things, any thing.  It’s there, friends, you just have to let yourself see it.
