A Month of Gratitude, 20

#20:  Being reminded of funny random memories

I will often see or hear something that sparks a memory from years past.  For example, this afternoon I had my radio tuned to a local station that’s spinning Christmas tunes 24/7 while I was working on a very boring operation document.  (Yeah, yeah, yeah… too soon and stuff.)

The song “Feliz Navidad” came on and I caught myself smiling as I remembered a funny moment from several years ago.  I was a radio producer, sitting in the studio with the host of the show (who also happens to be one of my favorite people) and we were talking to listeners about funny or memorable holiday moments.  One woman told us the story about how her young son was singing along to the music while they were driving in the car.  During the chorus of Feliz Navidad, she heard the little voice in the backseat sing along….

“Police shot my dog…. police shot my dog…”

I will never forget that story and to this day, those are the words I sing along with that song, too, with a ginormous smile on my face.
